Distance & drive time

What is the distance from Miami Airport to PortMiami?

Between 7 and 9 miles, depending on who measures: PortMiami puts Miami International Airport 7.1 miles away, MIA says about 9, and the usual route by road is around 9 miles. It is a short run, but the drive is only part of the time it takes to get from the gate to the ship.

How long does the drive from Miami Airport to PortMiami usually take?

Usually 15 to 30 minutes. Across 100 MIA-to-PortMiami trips quoted through our booking system, Google’s drive-time estimate was between 16 and 23 minutes for the middle half of trips. The route runs east on the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) to I-395 and the MacArthur Causeway, then through the toll-free PortMiami Tunnel onto the port, with no drawbridge on the way.

What factors affect travel time between MIA and the cruise port?

Three things stretch the trip. Weekday rush hours slow the Dolphin Expressway and I-395, where the long-running rebuild of the I-395 and SR 836 interchange near downtown also brings lane shifts. On busy sailing days several ships turn around the same morning (PortMiami’s record is 10 ships in one day), and the roads into the terminals queue. And getting out of the airport takes its own time: waiting for bags and, on a flight from abroad, clearing US customs often takes longer than the drive itself.

How long does it take to get from FLL to PortMiami?

Longer. PortMiami is 25.7 miles from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, about three times as far as from MIA. FLL puts the drive at 45 minutes to an hour without traffic and suggests allowing at least 90 minutes, especially at morning and evening rush hour. See your options from FLL.

Booking

How do I book a Miami cruise port transfer?

Online in a few minutes, at any hour, with no account and nothing to pay until you have seen your price.

  1. Step 1: Enter your trip

Put your pickup (MIA, FLL, your hotel or your home) and PortMiami in the booking form on this page, with the date and time. For an airport pickup use the time your flight lands; from a hotel, the time you want to leave.

  2. Step 2: Tell us your cruise line

The form recognizes PortMiami and lists the cruise lines that sail from it: pick yours. Add your passengers and bags, and at the airport choose how you want to meet your chauffeur.

  3. Step 3: Pick your vehicle and see the price

Every vehicle available for your trip is listed with its fixed price once you add your name, email and phone. After you choose, add your flight number, and put your terminal (Carnival alone uses three), child seats or a stop on the way under special requests.

  4. Step 4: Pay, and you’re set

Pay securely by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay; pickups more than 14 days away can be reserved with no payment today. Confirmation arrives by email and SMS, and we text you your chauffeur’s name and number once they are assigned.

Fixed fares to PortMiami

How much does airport to cruise transportation cost?

Every transfer has one fixed price for the whole vehicle, set by the distance and the vehicle, not per person. These are typical one-way fares to PortMiami straight from our booking engine; the ride back after your cruise costs the same.

Typical one-way fares to or from PortMiami for the usual route distance, checked October 2026. Your exact fixed price depends on the address and is shown in the booking form before you pay. Sedan and SUV fares are higher on a few special-event dates, such as Art Basel week in December.

Are your seaport transfer rates fixed or variable?

Fixed. The price you see when you book is what you pay for the ride, however slow the causeway or long the line of cars at the terminal. Only extras you ask for are added, such as a stop on the way or waiting beyond the free period. Need the car for longer, for a hotel checkout, lunch and then the ship? Book it by the hour instead.

Because the fare is per vehicle, groups pay less per head: four people sharing a Luxury SUV from MIA to PortMiami pay about $31 each, and fourteen in a Luxury Sprinter about $16 each.

What is included in the fare?

Included

  • Your chauffeur and the vehicle, for your party alone
  • Tolls and fees, with no added airport, port or fuel charges
  • Flight tracking and free waiting from actual landing
  • Help with every bag, from baggage claim or the hotel lobby to your terminal’s drop-off curb
  • Drop-off at your cruise line’s terminal
  • Bottled water, phone chargers and free child seats on request

Billed separately

  • Added stops on the way
  • Waiting beyond the free period, at $1 a minute

From the airport to the ship

How does an airport-to-cruise transfer work?

Fly in, collect your bags and ride straight to the pier: no cruise-line coach to wait for, no taxi line. Once your chauffeur is assigned, we text you their name and mobile number.

How do I find my driver at Miami airport?

You choose when you book. With Meet at Baggage Claim, your chauffeur waits at your baggage carousel on level 1 holding a sign with your name, then walks you and your bags to the car, at no extra cost. With Curbside Pickup, collect your bags, call or text your chauffeur, and they pull up at the arrivals curb outside baggage claim: cars can’t wait at MIA’s curb, so they come from the airport’s holding lot when you’re ready.

Flying in from abroad? You collect your bags before US customs at MIA, so we meet you as you come out at your international arrivals exit. See where we meet you at MIA.

Do you track flights for timely airport pickups?

Yes. Add your flight number when you book and our dispatch team follows your flight’s real status, so your chauffeur works to the time you actually land, early or late. Free waiting starts at landing: 30 minutes for domestic flights and 60 minutes for international flights, which leaves time for baggage claim and customs. A late flight never costs extra, because free waiting counts from the time you actually land.

Is luggage assistance included in your seaport service?

Always. Your chauffeur lifts every suitcase into the vehicle at the airport, hotel or home and unloads it at your terminal’s drop-off curb, where you hand the bags you want taken to your stateroom to the cruise line’s porters. Tell us how many bags you have when you book so we send the right vehicle: a Luxury SUV takes 6 suitcases and a Luxury Sprinter 14.

PortMiami terminals

Which PortMiami terminal does my cruise line use?

PortMiami has a terminal, or a group of them, for each of its big cruise lines, almost all along Cruise Boulevard on Dodge Island (the boutique Terminal J is on Caribbean Way, on the south side). Your boarding pass names your terminal: pick your cruise line in the booking form, add the terminal under special requests, and your chauffeur drives straight to it.

Embarkation day

When should I leave for the port on embarkation day?

Work back from your cruise line’s deadline, not from the sailing time. Every line closes check-in well before the ship leaves, and none of them holds the ship for a late car: a missed embarkation means catching up at a later port at your own cost, or not sailing at all.

Check-in cutoffs by cruise line

Royal Caribbean
Checked in at least 90 minutes before sailing
Norwegian (NCL)
Checked in and on board 1 hour before departure
Carnival
On board by the Final Boarding time on your boarding pass
MSC Cruises
Check-in closes 2 hours before departure
Celebrity
Checked in 60 minutes before sailing with online check-in; 2 hours at the pier
Virgin Voyages
At the terminal at the arrival time you chose in the app

From each cruise line’s own guidance, October 2026. Your boarding pass or cruise app has the time that applies to your sailing.

Arrive in your check-in slot, not before

Most lines now give each cabin an arrival time, chosen at online check-in, and guests who turn up early are asked to come back later. Book your car to reach the terminal at the start of your slot, and drop checked bags with the porters at the curb: at Carnival’s terminals they take bags only until 2 hours before departure.

Flying in the same day?

It can be done from MIA, but one delayed or canceled flight can cost you the cruise. Royal Caribbean notes that many guests arrive a day early, Regent strongly recommends the night before, and flights booked through Norwegian now land at least a day ahead. If you do fly in on the day, choose a morning arrival, add your flight number when you book, and let dispatch follow it.

When to set off

When to leave for PortMiami on embarkation day, by starting point
From Typical drive Plan
Downtown Miami & Brickell hotels Usually 10–20 min Leave 30 minutes before your arrival time
Miami Beach hotels Usually 15–35 min Leave 45 to 60 minutes before your arrival time
MIA, landing that day Usually 15–30 min, plus bags Land at least 1 hour before your arrival time, longer from abroad
FLL, landing that day Usually 45–90 min Land at least 2 hours before your arrival time

Our rule of thumb, from the drive times in the fare table. Add time on weekday mornings and late afternoons.

After the cruise

Can I schedule a return trip from the port?

Yes. Book it as a one-way ride from PortMiami on your debarkation day, in the same booking form. It is priced the same way as the ride in, so the same route costs the same unless you come back on one of the special-event dates noted under the fare table. Online booking handles one direction at a time; to set up both legs in one call, phone or WhatsApp +1 305-699-6919 and dispatch arranges them together.

What time should the pickup be?

Your cruise line gives you a time to leave the ship, on your luggage tag or in its app, and most guests are off in the morning. You then collect your checked bags in the terminal and clear US customs before you walk out, so book the pickup for when you expect to be outside with your luggage. Port pickups include 15 minutes of free waiting from the booked time, then $1 a minute; if debarkation runs late, text your chauffeur or call dispatch and we adjust.

Where do I meet my chauffeur after the cruise?

PortMiami doesn’t let cars wait at the terminal curb or circle the port, so your chauffeur won’t be parked outside the door. Once you are out of the terminal with your bags, call or text your chauffeur (we text you their name and number once they are assigned; if you don’t have it, call dispatch at +1 305-699-6919) and they come to your terminal’s pickup area.

Catching a flight the same day?

Leave room for a slow debarkation. Carnival’s own airport shuttle only takes guests whose return flight leaves at midday or later, MSC suggests at least five hours between the ship’s arrival and your flight, and TSA advises being at the airport 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one. PortMiami to MIA is usually 15 to 30 minutes by car; to FLL, allow 45 to 90. The port has no luggage lockers, so with a late flight and a free morning, ask about booking the car by the hour instead.

Car service vs the alternatives

What is the best way to reach Miami port?

It depends on how many of you there are and how much you’re carrying. Here is how a private car compares with a taxi, a ride app and your cruise line’s transfer coach from Miami International Airport, and with driving yourself from home.

Miami Limo Car compared with a taxi, a ride app and a cruise-line transfer from Miami International Airport to PortMiami, and with driving and parking from home
Compared on Miami Limo Car Taxi Ride app Cruise-line transfer Drive & park
Price Fixed per vehicle: about $108 by sedan or $122 by SUV for up to 6 Metered per cab: roughly $35–40 by our estimate, up to 30% more in an SUV or van taxi, plus tolls Set by the app when you request, and climbs with demand Per person: Carnival charges from $22.99 from MIA $28 a day at most port garages, $35 at Garages AA and B
Where it starts At your baggage carousel with a name sign, or the arrivals curb Taxi stand on the arrivals level, outside baggage claim At the pickup zone your app shows A cruise-line representative in baggage claim, then a coach Your driveway or a rental car, then the garage for your terminal
When it leaves As soon as your bags are in; dispatch follows your flight When you reach the front of the line When a driver accepts the request On a schedule (Carnival: hourly, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM); some lines wait for the coach to fill When you do
Luggage Your chauffeur loads and unloads every bag No charge for bags; help is up to the driver Up to the driver; a big group needs a bigger, pricier car You take it from the carousel to the coach You carry it; drop it at the terminal before parking
Booking Online or by phone, even on the day Not needed: join the taxi line In the app when you land Ahead of time: Carnival closes 2 days before sailing, NCL needs 4 days Not needed at most garages

Taxi estimate from Miami-Dade’s meter rates for about 9 miles, including the $2 trip charge; tolls and time in traffic are extra. Cruise-line, parking and taxi rates as of October 2026. MIA lists no shared-ride shuttle vans (SuperShuttle closed in 2019), and public transit to the port takes a train, the Metromover and a trolley.

Is a private car service worth the cost for cruise transfers?

For a couple traveling light, a taxi or the cruise line’s coach costs less, and we would rather say so. The sums change with group size and luggage: four people on Carnival’s coach pay about $92 together, while a Luxury SUV for the same four, with room for six suitcases, is $122 and leaves the moment the bags are in. What you buy is control: no line, no waiting for a coach to fill, a chauffeur who handles the luggage, and a fixed fare whatever the traffic.

Flying into Fort Lauderdale

What are the options for transportation from FLL airport to the Miami cruise port?

PortMiami is 25.7 miles south of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, about three times as far as from MIA, so plan for a longer ride: FLL suggests allowing at least 90 minutes. Your options:

  • Private car service

Fixed fare, about $138 by Luxury Sedan, $164 by SUV for up to 6 or $317 by Luxury Sprinter for 14. Your chauffeur meets you in baggage claim or at the Arrivals curb and leaves when your bags are in.

  • Cruise-line transfer

Some lines run a coach from FLL. Carnival’s costs from $36.99 a person, leaves once, at 12:00 PM, needs your flight to land by 11:30 AM and must be bought at least 2 days before sailing.

  • Taxi or ride app

Taxis queue on FLL’s lower level and run on the Broward meter; ride apps pick up on the lower level or in the Palm Garage, depending on the terminal. Over 26 miles, what you pay depends on the meter and the traffic, or on the app’s demand pricing.

Do you offer private limos from FLL to Miami?

Yes: luxury sedans, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Cadillac Escalade and Chevrolet Suburban SUVs, Sprinter vans and motor coaches, to PortMiami, Miami Beach, Brickell or anywhere else in Miami. Our Rolls-Royce Ghost and Jet Sprinter are booked by the hour. More on our Fort Lauderdale airport car service.

How do I travel smoothly from FLL to Miami?

Book before you fly and add your flight number, so dispatch follows the flight. Choose Meet at Baggage Claim if you want your chauffeur waiting with your name on a sign. Give yourself the 90 minutes FLL suggests for the drive to PortMiami, more on a weekday morning or late afternoon, when I-95 slows. And if you can choose your airport, MIA is about a third of the distance from the port.

Sailing from Port Everglades instead?

Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale is 1.8 miles from FLL, about a 10-minute ride, and 9 cruise lines sail from it. We drive to every terminal there too: about $101 by Luxury Sedan or $114 by SUV from FLL, and about $139 or $166 from MIA. Parking at the port costs $25 a day. See FLL to Port Everglades.

The fleet

What luxury cars are available for seaport transfers?

Choose by passengers and luggage: a week at sea means full-size suitcases, so count bags as well as people. Every vehicle comes with a professional chauffeur, and the price on each card is the fixed fare from MIA to PortMiami.

Groups & corporate

What vehicles are available for group cruise transfers?

Groups are where a private transfer pays off most. One fixed fare covers the whole vehicle, everyone leaves together, and nobody wrestles a week’s luggage onto a shared coach. Match the vehicle to your headcount and your bags.

Can I arrange corporate transportation to Miami cruise terminals?

Yes. Incentive trips, conferences at sea and company retreats are a regular part of our work. Executives ride in a Luxury Sedan or a First Class Mercedes-Benz S-Class, teams use the 12-seat Executive Sprinter, and a 54-passenger motor coach moves the whole group at once. Guests arriving on different flights or staying at different hotels can be collected separately, each ride timed to the group’s check-in.

Choose Business when you enter your details to add your company name, and ask for an itemized invoice after the trip. For a large group, call +1 305-699-6919 or email contact@miamilimocar.com and dispatch will plan the whole move with you, from the airport to the pier and back. More on our corporate car service.

Miami Cruise Port Transportation FAQ

Booking & prices

How can I arrange transportation to the cruise port in Miami?

Book it before you travel, in the booking form on this page. Enter where we pick you up (Miami International Airport, the Fort Lauderdale airport, your hotel or your home), PortMiami as the destination, and the date and time. The form recognizes PortMiami and asks for your cruise line; add your terminal under special requests, and your chauffeur drives straight to it. Choose a vehicle, see your fixed price and pay securely online; your confirmation arrives by email and SMS. Prefer to talk? Call +1 305-699-6919 at any hour.

How do I book transportation from Miami Airport to the cruise port?

Enter Miami International Airport as the pickup and PortMiami as the destination, with the date and the time your flight lands. Add your flight number, choose Meet at Baggage Claim (your chauffeur waits holding a sign with your name) or Curbside Pickup, and pick your cruise line. No account is needed: the fixed price for every available vehicle appears once you add your name, email and phone, before you pay. It is about $108 in a Luxury Sedan and $122 in a Luxury SUV for up to 6 (October 2026).

Miami airport car service
Can I get a quote for my cruise transfer?

Yes, instantly and with no obligation to book. The booking form on this page shows a fixed price for every available vehicle as soon as you enter your trip and contact details, at any hour. For a motor coach, or several vehicles for a large group, call +1 305-699-6919 or email contact@miamilimocar.com and we will quote the whole move.

How far in advance should I reserve my ride?

As soon as your sailing and flights are set, and earlier still for weekend and holiday sailings and for groups that need a Sprinter or a coach. Pickups more than 14 days away can be reserved without paying today: your price is locked in and payment is finalized closer to the trip. At short notice, the Luxury Sedan, Luxury SUV and Luxury Sprinter can be booked even for right now, First Class and the Executive Sprinter need 2 hours, and a motor coach needs 24 hours.

Can I book a last-minute ride to the port?

Yes. The Luxury Sedan, Luxury SUV and Luxury Sprinter can be booked online even for right now. Rides booked less than 12 hours ahead are checked by our dispatch team first, usually within a few minutes, and if we can’t take the ride, the hold on your card is released. If your ship sails within a few hours, call +1 305-699-6919 instead: it is the fastest way to get a car moving.

What payment methods do you accept for bookings?

Credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay, through Stripe’s secure checkout, in US dollars. The full fare is charged when you book; for rides within 12 hours your card is only authorized until dispatch accepts the ride, and pickups more than 14 days out can be reserved with no payment today.

On the day

Are your drivers punctual for airport cruise pickups?

Yes. Dispatch follows your flight, so your chauffeur works to the time you actually land, early or late, not the time printed on your ticket. From a hotel or home, your chauffeur arrives at the time you booked and contacts you on the way. Free waiting is 30 minutes from landing on domestic flights, 60 minutes on international flights and 15 minutes at any other pickup.

What if my flight is late on embarkation day?

You don’t need to call us: dispatch follows the new arrival time, and your free waiting starts when the plane actually lands, so the delay costs nothing extra. What no one can move is your ship’s check-in cutoff, which is why many cruisers fly in the day before. If a late flight puts check-in at risk, call +1 305-699-6919 as soon as you land and your chauffeur will be ready to leave the moment you have your bags.

Can we stop on the way to the ship?

Yes. A quick stop for groceries, a pharmacy or to collect another guest can be added: note it under special requests when you book, or call +1 305-699-6919. Added stops are billed separately from the fixed fare. For a longer day, such as hotel checkout, lunch and then the port, book the car by the hour instead.

Can you take us between PortMiami and Port Everglades?

Yes, for back-to-back cruises or a sailing that returns to the other port. The ports are about 28 miles apart, usually 45 minutes or more depending on traffic, and the fare is about $143 by Luxury Sedan or $172 by SUV for up to 6 (October 2026). Enter both terminals in the booking form, or call +1 305-699-6919 and dispatch will time the pickup to your debarkation.

Can I request a specific vehicle for my trip?

Bookings are made by vehicle class, so a particular model isn’t guaranteed. If you want a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, book First Class, which is always an S-Class. For any other model, call +1 305-699-6919 before booking and we will confirm what’s available on your date.

What amenities are included in your luxury limos?

Every Luxury Sedan, First Class, Luxury SUV and Sprinter transfer includes premium bottled water, phone chargers, tissues and hand sanitizer, and the Sprinters add a surround sound system and a TV. Let us know in advance about anything else you would like on board, such as a bottle of champagne for the start of a honeymoon cruise.

Do you provide child seats for family cruise trips?

Yes, free of charge on request: infant, child and booster seats in the Luxury Sedan, First Class, Luxury SUV and both Sprinters, so there’s no need to carry one onto the ship. Add the seats you need, with your children’s ages, under special requests when you book.

Policies & support

How do I modify my seaport transfer reservation?

Call or WhatsApp +1 305-699-6919, or email contact@miamilimocar.com, with your booking reference and the change: a new time, flight, address, ship or passenger count. Cancellation is free up to 2 hours before pickup for a Luxury Sedan or Luxury SUV, 24 hours for First Class and 72 hours for Sprinter vans; inside that window 50% of the fare is charged, and no-shows are not refunded. Motor coach terms are confirmed when you reserve by phone; for online bookings, the policy for your vehicle is shown with your quote.

Is your seaport transfer service available twenty-four hours?

Yes. We drive 24 hours a day, every day of the year, including the early-morning debarkation rush and late-night arrivals the evening before a sailing. You can book online at any hour, and a real person answers the dispatch line day and night.

How do I contact customer support for my ride?

Call or WhatsApp +1 305-699-6919; the line is answered 24/7. Once your chauffeur is assigned we also text you their name and mobile number, so on the day you can reach them directly. For anything that isn’t urgent, such as an invoice, email contact@miamilimocar.com with your booking reference.

Are your drivers licensed and insured for transfers?

Yes. Our chauffeurs are licensed, have completed chauffeur training and are background-checked, and Miami Limo Car is a licensed and insured for-hire operator.
