Distance & drive time
How far is Port Everglades from Fort Lauderdale airport?
About 1.8 miles, by the port’s own measure: Port Everglades calls itself the only seaport in the US next to an international airport. By road it is 2 to 4 miles from the airport curb to the cruise terminals, depending on yours.

How long does it take to get from FLL to Port Everglades?
Usually 10 to 15 minutes; FLL itself calls it about a 10-minute ride. From the airport your chauffeur takes I-595 east straight to the port’s Eller Drive entrance, open around the clock, or US 1 north to the State Road 84 gate. The drive is the quick part: the port suggests allowing 45 minutes to an hour from FLL for the whole transfer, because baggage claim and the security checkpoint take their own time.
What slows the trip on a sailing day?
Three things. Several ships often turn around on the same morning, and the roads into the terminals and the checkpoint lanes queue. If you fly in from abroad, clearing US customs in FLL’s Terminals 1 and 4 can take longer than the drive. And at weekday rush hours, I-595 and US 1 slow down.
Coming from Miami or Palm Beach?
Port Everglades is about 27 miles north of Miami International and about 50 miles south of the West Palm Beach airport (DJT, formerly PBI). The port puts the drive from MIA at 30 to 45 minutes; at rush hour on I-95, allow up to 75. For the whole transfer, bags included, the port suggests allowing 2 to 3 hours from MIA and 3 to 4 hours from the West Palm Beach airport.
Booking
How does booking your port transfer work?
Online in a few minutes, at any hour, with no account and nothing to pay until you have seen your price.
-
Step 1: Enter your trip
Put your pickup (FLL, MIA, your hotel or your home) and your Port Everglades cruise terminal in the booking form on this page, with the date and time. For an airport pickup use the time your flight lands; from a hotel, the time you want to leave.
-
Step 2: Add passengers and bags
Tell us how many of you are traveling and how many suitcases you have, so the vehicle fits a week’s luggage. At the airport, choose how you want to meet your chauffeur: at baggage claim with a name sign, or at the curb.
-
Step 3: Pick your vehicle and see the price
Every vehicle available for your trip is listed with its fixed price once you add your name, email and phone. After you choose, add your flight number, and put your cruise line and terminal, child seats or a stop on the way under special requests.
-
Step 4: Pay, and you’re set
Pay securely by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay; pickups more than 14 days away can be reserved with no payment today. Confirmation arrives by email and SMS, and we text you your chauffeur’s name, number and a live tracking link once they are assigned.

Typical one-way fares to or from Port Everglades for the usual route distance, checked October 2026. Your exact fixed price depends on the address and is shown in the booking form before you pay. Sedan and SUV fares are higher on a few special-event dates, such as Art Basel week in December.
Get the exact fixed price for your addressHow is the vehicle and price selected?
You choose the vehicle, and the booking form shows its price before you pay. That price is fixed: it is what you pay for the ride, however slow I-595 or long the line at the port’s security gate. Only extras you ask for are added, such as a stop on the way or waiting beyond the free period.
From FLL the ride is short, so most of the fare is the cost of sending a chauffeured vehicle at all, and the price climbs slowly with distance: $111 from FLL, $148 from Miami International. Because the fare is per vehicle, groups pay less per head: four people sharing a Luxury SUV from FLL pay about $31 each, and fourteen in a Luxury Sprinter about $14 each.
What is included in the fare?
Included
- Your chauffeur and the vehicle, for your party alone
- Tolls and fees, with no added airport, port or fuel charges
- Flight tracking and free waiting from actual landing
- Help with every bag, from the airport or your hotel to your terminal’s drop-off curb
- Drop-off at your cruise line’s terminal
- Wi-Fi on board, bottled water, phone chargers and free child seats on request
Billed separately
- Added stops on the way
- Waiting beyond the free period, at $1 a minute
From FLL to the ship
How do we handle flight delays and luggage?
Land, collect your bags and ride straight to the pier: no cruise-line coach to wait for, no taxi line. Once your chauffeur is assigned, we text you their name, mobile number and a live tracking link.
How does real-time flight tracking help on embarkation day?
Add your flight number when you book and our dispatch team follows your flight’s real status, so your chauffeur works to the time you actually land, early or late, not the time printed on your ticket. Free waiting starts at landing: 30 minutes for domestic flights and 60 minutes for international flights, which leaves time for baggage claim and customs. A delayed flight never costs extra, and you don’t need to call us about it.
What happens if my flight arrives early?
Dispatch sees the early landing too, and your chauffeur works to it. With Meet at Baggage Claim, your chauffeur waits in your terminal’s baggage claim, on FLL’s lower level, holding a sign with your name, then walks you to the car at no extra cost. With Curbside Pickup, collect your bags, call or text your chauffeur and they pull up at the lower-level Arrivals curb.
Flying in from abroad? FLL’s customs halls are in Terminals 1 and 4; we meet you once you are through. More on our Fort Lauderdale airport car service.
How much luggage can the vehicle accommodate?
Count suitcases as well as people. A Luxury Sedan or First Class S-Class takes 3 large bags, a Luxury SUV 6, the Executive Sprinter 6 and the Luxury Sprinter 14. Your chauffeur lifts every bag into the vehicle and unloads it at your terminal’s curb, where you hand the bags you want taken to your stateroom to the cruise line’s porters. Tell us your bag count when you book and we send a vehicle that fits it.
Port security
How does the port security checkpoint work?
Port Everglades is a secure port: cars, taxis and coaches reach the cruise terminals through one of three staffed security checkpoints, where officers check photo ID for everyone 18 and over and may screen the vehicle.
-
Eller Drive, off I-595 East
Checkpoint 1, the closest to FLL: open 24 hours
-
State Road 84 at Spangler Blvd
Checkpoint 2, just east of US 1: 6 AM to 6 PM
-
SE 17th Street at Eisenhower Blvd
Checkpoint 3: 6 AM to 6 PM
What documents are required at the checkpoint?
Everyone 18 and over needs a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, plus cruise documents: your boarding pass or the cruise line’s confirmation. Ticketed cruise passengers don’t need the one-day visitor badge that most other visitors collect from the Broward Sheriff’s Office at the checkpoint, so friends coming only to see you off should check the port’s visitor rules first.
Are vehicles subject to search at Port Everglades?
Yes. The port warns that any vehicle entering may be searched, and Florida’s seaport security law (section 311.12 of the Florida Statutes) makes it unlawful to carry a concealed weapon in the port’s restricted areas or keep one in a vehicle there, and the port bans weapons of any kind anywhere on port property, so guns and other weapons must stay off the port entirely, including in the car that brings you. At the gate the officer may ask everyone for ID and look inside the vehicle or the trunk: the sooner the IDs are in hand, the sooner you are through.
Which entrance will my chauffeur use?
Whichever is open and quickest to your terminal at that hour. Eller Drive, straight off I-595, is the nearest to FLL and open around the clock; the State Road 84 and SE 17th Street gates are open from 6 AM to 6 PM. Every checkpoint follows the same screening rules, so the entrance doesn’t change what you need to show.
Keep IDs and boarding passes in your hand luggage, not in the suitcases in the trunk: the officer asks for them before the car moves on, and digging through bags at the gate holds up everyone behind you.

Port Everglades terminals
Which Port Everglades terminal does my cruise line use?
Port Everglades has eight cruise terminals, numbered 2 to 29, along SE 20th Street, Eller Drive and SE 32nd and 35th Streets. Your boarding pass or cruise app names yours: search for it in the booking form, add your cruise line under special requests, and your chauffeur drives straight to it.

Embarkation day
When should I leave for Port Everglades on embarkation day?
Work back from your cruise line’s deadline, not from the sailing time. Every line closes check-in well before the ship leaves, and none of them holds the ship for a late car: a missed embarkation means catching up at a later port at your own cost, or not sailing at all.

From each cruise line’s own guidance, October 2026. Sailing with Princess, Viking or another line? Your boarding pass or cruise app has the time that applies to your sailing.
Arrive in your check-in slot, not before
Most lines now give each cabin an arrival time, usually chosen at online check-in (Holland America assigns one about two weeks before sailing), and guests who turn up early are asked to wait: Holland America asks guests not to arrive more than 20 minutes ahead of their time, and Disney holds early arrivals outside the terminal. Book your car to reach the terminal at the start of your slot, with a few minutes for the security gate, and hand your checked bags to the porters at the curb.
Flying into FLL the same day?
With the port minutes from the airport, many cruisers do, but one delayed or canceled flight can still cost you the cruise. Royal Caribbean notes that many guests arrive a day early, and a night at a hotel near the port takes the risk away. If you do fly in on the day, choose a morning arrival, add your flight number when you book, and let dispatch follow it.
When to set off
| From | Typical drive | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Hotels on SE 17th Street & Fort Lauderdale Beach | Usually 5–25 min | Leave 30 minutes before your arrival time |
| FLL, landing that day | Usually 10–15 min, plus bags | Land at least 1 hour before your arrival time, longer from abroad |
| MIA, landing that day | Usually 35–75 min, plus bags | Land at least 2 to 3 hours before your arrival time, as the port suggests |
| Miami hotels | Usually 45–90 min | Leave 1¾ hours before your arrival time |
| Boca Raton | Usually 35–60 min | Leave 1¼ hours before your arrival time |
| West Palm Beach & Palm Beach | Usually 50–80 min | Leave 1¾ hours before your arrival time |
Our rule of thumb, from the drive times in the fare table, with a few minutes for the security gate. Add time on weekday mornings and late afternoons, when I-95 and I-595 slow.
After the cruise
Can I schedule a return trip from the port?
Yes. Book it as a one-way ride from Port Everglades on your debarkation day, in the same booking form. It is priced the same way as the ride in, by distance and vehicle, so expect about the same fare unless you come back on one of the special-event dates noted under the fare table. Online booking handles one direction at a time; to set up both legs in one call, phone or WhatsApp +1 305-699-6919 and dispatch arranges them together.
What time should the pickup be?
Most passengers leave the ship between 7 and 9 AM, the port says, but your cruise line sets your time, on your luggage tag or in its app. You then collect your checked bags in the terminal and clear US customs before you walk out, so book the pickup for when you expect to be outside with your luggage. Port pickups include 15 minutes of free waiting from the booked time, then $1 a minute; if debarkation runs late, text your chauffeur or call dispatch and we adjust.
Where do I meet my chauffeur after the cruise?
Outside your terminal. The port gives taxis, ride apps, coaches and hotel shuttles their own areas outside each cruise terminal, porters hired by your cruise line can take your bags out to a private car, and drivers collecting passengers wait in the port’s cell phone lots until they are called. So once you are out with your bags, call or text your chauffeur (we text you their name, number and a tracking link once they are assigned; if you don’t have it, call dispatch at +1 305-699-6919) and they come to your terminal’s pickup area.
Catching a flight the same day?
Leave room for a slow morning, but not too much. FLL warns that on cruise days airlines may only take checked bags from about two hours before your flight, so reaching the airport much earlier means waiting with your luggage; TSA advises being there 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 before an international one. Port Everglades to FLL is usually 10 to 15 minutes; to MIA, allow 45 to 90. The port has no luggage storage, but FLL has public baggage storage in Terminals 1, 2 and 3 during the day, and on some sailings your cruise line can check your bags through to a participating airline before you leave the ship: ask your cruise line. With a late flight and a free morning, ask about booking the car by the hour instead.
Car service vs the alternatives
What are your FLL to port options?
From Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International every option is quick, so the choice comes down to your group, your luggage and how much waiting you will put up with. Here is how a private car compares from FLL to the cruise terminals.
| Compared on | Miami Limo Car | Taxi | Ride app | Cruise-line transfer | Public bus |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | Fixed per vehicle: $111 by sedan, or $124 by SUV for up to 6 | Metered per cab: about $18–21 to the port, by FLL’s estimate | Set by the app when you request, and climbs with demand | Per person, set by your cruise line | $2 a person, plus a cab for the last stretch |
| Where it starts | At your baggage carousel with a name sign, or the Arrivals curb | Taxi podium on the lower level of your terminal | Ride-app zone on FLL’s lower level, or FLL’s Palm Garage for airport Terminals 3 and 4 | A cruise-line representative in baggage claim | Route 1 from FLL’s Rental Car Center; no bus goes into the port |
| When it leaves | As soon as your bags are in; dispatch follows your flight | When you reach the front of the line | When a driver accepts the request | When the coach group is assembled | On the bus timetable |
| Luggage | Your chauffeur loads and unloads every bag | Help is up to the driver | Up to the driver; a big group needs a bigger, pricier car | You take it from the carousel to the coach | You carry it onto the bus, then into a cab |
| Booking | Online or by phone, even on the day | Not needed: join the taxi line | In the app when you land | Through your cruise line, before you reach the airport | Not needed |
Taxi estimate from FLL’s ground transportation page (its cruise page says about $12 on the meter); bus routes and fare from Broward County Transit, which says no bus runs directly to Port Everglades. All as of October 2026.
What is the cheapest transportation from Fort Lauderdale airport to the cruise port?
A taxi, for most people. No public bus goes into the port: Broward County Transit’s Route 1 runs from FLL’s Rental Car Center to State Road 84 and US 1 for $2 a person, but from there you still need a cab through the security gate, with your suitcases. A metered taxi straight from the terminal curb, about $18 to $21 by FLL’s estimate, is the cheaper door-to-door ride for one or two people traveling light, and we would rather say so.
What sets a private car apart from a rideshare or taxi?
The sums change with group size and luggage. A family of five with a week’s suitcases won’t fit a standard taxi or ride-app car, and a bigger one costs more; a Luxury SUV for up to six, with room for six suitcases, is $124 from FLL, fixed when you book. What you buy is control: a chauffeur who follows your flight, meets you at baggage claim with a name sign if you choose that free option (or at the Arrivals curb), loads every bag and knows the gates and the terminals, no taxi line on a busy cruise morning, and no app price that climbs with demand.
The fleet
Which vehicle fits your group size?
Choose by passengers and luggage: a week at sea means full-size suitcases, so count bags as well as people. Every vehicle comes with a professional chauffeur, and the price on each card is the fixed fare from FLL to Port Everglades.

What vehicle handles mid-size groups with luggage?
The Luxury Sprinter: 14 seats and room for 14 suitcases, so a family reunion or a wedding party leaves FLL together and arrives at the pier together. One fixed fare covers the whole vehicle, and nobody wrestles a week’s luggage onto a shared coach. For bigger parties, match the vehicle to your headcount and your bags.

Can I arrange corporate transportation to Port Everglades?
Yes. Incentive trips, conferences at sea and company retreats are a regular part of our work. Executives ride in a Luxury Sedan or a First Class Mercedes-Benz S-Class, teams use the 12-seat Executive Sprinter, and a 54-passenger motor coach moves the whole group at once. Guests arriving on different flights or staying at different hotels can be collected separately, each ride timed to the group’s check-in. The Broward County Convention Center sits at the port, with the 801-room Omni Fort Lauderdale beside it since December 2025, so a conference before or after the sailing is a short ride from the ship.
Choose Business when you enter your details to add your company name, and ask for an itemized invoice after the trip. For a large group, call +1 305-699-6919 or email contact@miamilimocar.com and dispatch will plan the whole move with you, from the airport to the pier and back. More on our corporate car service.

Port Everglades Transportation FAQ
Booking & prices
How do I book transportation from FLL to Port Everglades?
Enter Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport as the pickup and your Port Everglades cruise terminal as the destination in the booking form on this page, with the date and the time your flight lands. Add your flight number, choose Meet at Baggage Claim (your chauffeur waits holding a sign with your name) or Curbside Pickup, and put your cruise line and terminal under special requests. No account is needed: the fixed price for every available vehicle appears once you add your name, email and phone, before you pay. It is about $111 in a Luxury Sedan and $124 in a Luxury SUV for up to 6 (October 2026).
Fort Lauderdale airport car serviceWhat information is needed to start a booking?
Where we pick you up and where you are going, the date and time, and how many passengers and bags. To see prices, add your name, email and mobile number; after you choose a vehicle, add your flight number, your cruise line and terminal, and anything else we should know, such as child seats.
How does the instant quote system work?
The booking form prices your exact trip once you enter it and add your name, email and phone, for every vehicle available at that time, at any hour and with no obligation to book. The price you see is fixed: tolls and fees are included and it doesn’t change with traffic. For a motor coach, or several vehicles for a large group, call +1 305-699-6919 or email contact@miamilimocar.com and we will quote the whole move.
What happens after the booking is confirmed?
Your confirmation arrives by email and SMS with your booking reference. Once your chauffeur is assigned, we text you their name and mobile number with a live tracking link, so on the day you can follow the car and reach your chauffeur directly. In the meantime dispatch follows your flight, and a person answers the phone 24/7 if anything changes.
How far in advance should I reserve my ride?
As soon as your sailing and flights are set, and earlier still for weekend and holiday sailings and for groups that need a Sprinter or a coach. Pickups more than 14 days away can be reserved without paying today: your price is locked in and payment is finalized closer to the trip. At short notice, the Luxury Sedan, Luxury SUV and Luxury Sprinter can be booked even for right now, First Class and the Executive Sprinter need 2 hours, and a motor coach needs 24 hours.
What payment methods do you accept for bookings?
Credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay, through Stripe’s secure checkout, in US dollars. The full fare is charged when you book; for rides within 12 hours your card is only authorized until dispatch accepts the ride, and pickups more than 14 days out can be reserved with no payment today.
On the day
How long does it take to get from Fort Lauderdale airport to Port Everglades?
Usually 10 to 15 minutes by car: the port is 1.8 miles from FLL, and FLL calls it about a 10-minute ride. For the whole transfer, from landing to the terminal, the port suggests allowing 45 minutes to an hour, because baggage claim and the security checkpoint take their own time.
What makes a private transfer more reliable than a rideshare?
Rideshare availability and prices swing with demand, and on FLL’s cruise days, Friday to Monday, many cruise passengers are looking for a ride at the same time. A pre-booked private transfer locks in the vehicle, the chauffeur and the fare before you travel, and dispatch follows your flight, so your chauffeur is there when you land rather than when an app finds a driver.
What if my flight is late on embarkation day?
You don’t need to call us: dispatch follows the new arrival time, and your free waiting starts when the plane actually lands, so the delay costs nothing extra. What no one can move is your ship’s check-in cutoff, which is why many cruisers fly in the day before. If a late flight puts check-in at risk, call +1 305-699-6919 as soon as you land and your chauffeur will be ready to leave the moment you have your bags.
Does vehicle choice affect Port Everglades terminal access?
Not for you. Every vehicle, from a sedan to a motor coach, goes through the same security screening at the port’s gates and takes you to your terminal; the port sorts taxis, ride apps, coaches and hotel shuttles into their own areas outside each terminal. What the vehicle changes is how many people and suitcases come with you, so choose by passengers and bags.
Can you take us between Port Everglades and PortMiami?
Yes, for back-to-back cruises or a sailing that ends at the other port. The ports are about 28 miles apart by road, usually 35 to 75 minutes depending on I-95, and the fare is about $148 by Luxury Sedan or $174 by SUV for up to 6 (October 2026). Enter both terminals in the booking form, or call +1 305-699-6919 and dispatch will time the pickup to your debarkation.
Miami cruise port transportationCan we stop on the way to the ship?
Yes. A quick stop at a pharmacy or to collect another guest can be added: note it under special requests when you book, or call +1 305-699-6919. Added stops are billed separately from the fixed fare. For a longer day, such as hotel checkout, lunch on Las Olas and then the port, book the car by the hour instead.
Vehicles & comfort
How many passengers fit in a standard limousine?
Our Cadillac Escalade stretch limousine seats up to 20, but it has no luggage space and is booked by the hour, so it suits a night out rather than a ride to the ship. For a cruise group with suitcases, the Luxury Sprinter seats 14 with room for 14 bags, and the Luxury SUV seats 6 with room for 6.
See the full fleetHow does Miami Limo Car handle luggage for cruise passengers?
Your chauffeur loads every bag at the airport, hotel or home and unloads it at your terminal’s curb, where the cruise line’s porters take the bags you check to your stateroom. We size the vehicle to your luggage: 3 large bags in a sedan, 6 in a Luxury SUV and 14 in a Luxury Sprinter, so tell us your bag count when you book.
Do you provide child seats for family cruise trips?
Yes, free of charge on request: infant, child and booster seats in the Luxury Sedan, First Class, Luxury SUV and both Sprinters, so there’s no need to carry one onto the ship. Add the seats you need, with your children’s ages, under special requests when you book.
What amenities are included in the vehicles?
Every vehicle has Wi-Fi. Every Luxury Sedan, First Class, Luxury SUV and Sprinter transfer also includes premium bottled water, phone chargers, tissues and hand sanitizer, and the Luxury and Executive Sprinters add a surround sound system and a TV. Let us know in advance about anything else you would like on board, such as a bottle of champagne for the start of a honeymoon cruise.
